What is an Arborist?
Someone who is certified through ISA. An arborist by definition is someone who is specifically trained in planting, caring for, and maintaining trees. ISA arborist certification is a voluntary process monitored by the International Society of Arboriculture.
Why hire an ISA Certified Arborist?
They have experience and meet qualifications that other people do not have. You can look up on their website how many years’ experience they have.
What is the best time of year to prune trees?
Fall is the optimal time to prune trees but you can also do them in early Spring. Oaks and Elms cannot be pruned in the Spring, Summer or Fall. Doing so will open them to diseases that will not just hurt but could end the life of the tree.
What are the black spots on your Maple tree?
The black spots common to Maple trees is called Tar spot. It is a treatable disease but does not hurt the tree. It’s a cosmetic disease and you can spray them in early spring when the leaves are emerging.
Should you fertilize your trees?
Certain trees such as Maples and Oaks, do require nutrients like manganese and iron. Boxwoods, rhododendrons, and other shrubs around the house should be fertilized every year since they will use up the nutrients in the soil. Other trees can be done on an inspected basis, or as needed.
What are common signs of stressed trees?
Some basic signs are small leaves, twigs are short, and leaves will have dark green veins with pale green or yellow tissue.
